Discipleship is one of the most vital aspects of spiritual growth, yet it’s often overlooked in our individualistic culture. Many people assume that once they reach a certain level of maturity—or a certain age—they no longer need someone to walk with them spiritually. But Scripture paints a different picture. No matter how old we are, we never outgrow our need for guidance, accountability, and wisdom from those who have walked with God longer or deeper than we have.

Age is not an excuse. Whether you are 16 or 60, there is always someone who can sharpen your faith, challenge your blind spots, and encourage you to pursue Christ more wholeheartedly. Even the Apostle Paul, a seasoned leader, surrounded himself with other believers and continued to learn and grow in faith.

However, discipleship rarely happens by accident. It often begins with a humble request. It takes courage and humility to approach someone and say, “Would you disciple me?” That simple act acknowledges that you don’t have all the answers and that you’re willing to be shaped and stretched. True growth happens in that posture of humility—when we open our lives to another’s wisdom, correction, and example.

So, seek out a discipler. Pray for God to lead you to the right person, and when He does, don’t let pride or fear hold you back. Discipleship isn’t about weakness—it’s about intentional growth and faithfulness. We were never meant to walk this journey alone.
